3 Free Tools That Makes Your Life Easier On The Internet
Like everyone, I am on my phone or laptop browsing the Internet for one reason or the other, mostly for work but you get it. However, every once in a while doing some work-related software testing my browser would crash.
Now, these crashes are always expected to happen but it would mess my extension, settings, and performance issues. Most of the time this results in me completely reinstalling or resetting the browser on my laptop.
Fresh install would mean logging into websites again, syncing my bookmarks, creating a work and home profile, and series of infuriating adjustments.
One day I thought there must be a better way to manage this. After testing various extensions and browsers, I think I have found the perfect combination.
- Password Manager
I really can’t stress enough the importance of using a password manager in 2021. First, it allows you to set different passwords for different sites. Second, you don’t even need to remember any of them, you only need to remember the master password for the password manager.
There are many password manager providers available in the market. Both paid and free, I use Bitwarden which is a free open source password manager.
However, you can also get the premium account which is 10$ a year which would offer you extra features like a built-in 2FA authenticator, emergency access, and other goodies.
The free version is more than enough for me as I use a separate authenticator app altogether. If you are looking for other premium options then I would recommend checking out Lastpass or Nordpass.
The benefit of the password manager for me is after a fresh browser install I can enter my user name and password with a single click.
2. Authenticator
In 2020, you need to enable the 2-factor authenticator on all of your accounts. In fact, Google is enabling 2-factor authentication by default on its user’s accounts.
The most popular 2-factor authentications option out there are Google and Microsoft authenticator apps. Both the apps are available on Android and iOS devices.
I have used both of them and both of them fall short in comparison to Authy. It can safely backup all your 2-factor authentication tokens on the cloud. Therefore, you won’t have to worry about re-entering all you account in case you lose your phone.
Moreover, it supports multi-device login so you can install the app and sync data on your windows, iOS devices, and Android all at once. Yes, there is also an app for windows!
And, if you are still not convinced then did I tell you all of this is free?
3. Bookmarks
All my life, I wondered there is gotta be a better way to manage and save bookmarks. I don’t want to get tied down by a browser or an ecosystem to save and sync my bookmarks.
After trying many different services, I finally found raindrop.io the perfect tool for managing your bookmarks. Simply go on to the website create a free account and start saving your bookmarks.
Not only that you can create bookmarks collections for work, news, sports, or whatever interests you online. It gives you a clean and intuitive way of managing your bookmarks.
And you can use it on any browser whether it’s a Mac, Linux, Windows, iOS, or Android. There are no login limits, bookmarks limits, or collection limits on the free account.
If you are a power user then you can consider taking their premium plan which allows you to create subcategories within collections, upload files(10GB limit per month), and a lot more.
